Speaker: David L. Compton, PE, SECB, CGC, CFM Dave is Senior Vice President/Regional Manager of ESL at J.S. Held. He earned a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified General Contractor. He was appointed as the Florida Building Commission’s Structural Engineer Commissioner by Governor Rick Scott. As part of his duties he sits on the Florida Building Commission’s Structural Technical Advisory Committee and Product Approval Program Oversight Committee that was integral to the 2015 Florida Building Code update. Dave is a FEMA certified Advanced Structures Specialist - STS2 and a member of the Tampa Bay Urban Search & Rescue Team - FL Task Force-3. Deployed to participate in operations to aid states affected by hurricanes, natural disasters and other catastrophic events.
Topic: Changes to the 2017 Florida Building Code The presentation will cover the changes between the 2014 FBC and 2017 FBC with a focus on the changes that impact structural engineers.
