Topic: “LEED is a changin' - what SE's need to know if they still want to pick the structural system” In less than one year a new version of LEED, LEED v4, will be mandatory. Are you ready and do you know how it will affect structural engineers? Are you ready for LCA's, EPD's, HPD's, and PCR's? LEED v4 contains a completely revised Materials and Resources section, and it offers new opportunities structural engineers. No longer will structural engineers be able to take advantage of the recycled content in steel and the regional nature of concrete. Material evaluation based on attributes is out. A new approach focused on materials transparency, disclosure, and optimization is in. Come find out what this means to the design process as well as how in may impact the selection of structural systems. We will also share examples from a LEED v4 project that Beta tested the new rating system.
