This seminar is for Structural Engineers and covers the state-of-the-art in Buckling Restrained Brace (BRB) frame design. BRBs are being used in new and retrofit applications in commercial, residential, warehouse and industrial projects. This seminar will primarily reference AISC 341-10, Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings. Specific topics that will be covered are: history of the BRB, modeling BRB in structural analysis software, brace-beam-column connections, project specification & BRB submittal review.
Speaker Tim Nordstrom, P.E., S.E., a licensed Structural Engineer in Washington and Utah, is with Star Seismic, a manufacturer of Buckling Restrained Braces. Tim has been involved with numerous new and retrofit projects in the US, Canada and New Zealand. He is also currently working on the research and development of the next generation of BRBs
