Practical Design of Structures for Blast Effects: Design Criteria

  • 28 Apr 2015
  • 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
  • Webinar

Various terrorist attacks over the last 20 years have considerably increased the perceived risk of similar incidents at other facilities, and a vehicle bomb has often been the weapon of choice.  In the past, mitigation of this threat has been the exclusive domain of a handful of expert firms and individuals utilizing highly specialized techniques and tools.  Today it is important that "ordinary" structural engineers have at least some awareness and capability in this area – something that is now possible, thanks to simplified analysis and design methodologies and user-friendly computer programs.

Part 1 of this updated three-part webinar series will address the following topics, including helpful resources and tools, as well as detailed design examples:

  • ASCE/SEI 59-11 Standard for Blast Protection of Buildings
  • Risk assessment principles and methodologies from DoD and DHS/FEMA
1.5 PDH's received

  • $225 –NCSEA member
  • $250 – SEI/CASE member
  • $275 – non-member
